Promote cross country and track and field programs for high-school and middle-schoolaged children in Ridgefield, Connecticut.

My my My my
Girls Cross Country is ON!

The CIAC today announced that they will move forward with the fall sports season. Here is the preliminary information for cross country.

Registration for XC will take place in the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Currently the portal is closed for maintenance. When it is open for registration I will let you know. Further information on registration can be found here.

Our first day of practice will be Thursday, August 27 at 8 AM. We will practice at 8 AM each day, including Saturdays, until school is in session at which point practices will begin at 2:30 PM. Plan on practices lasting two hours.

From August 27 to September 10 we will be practicing in cohorts of 15. Cohorts will be based on ability / level of conditioning. From September 11 onward we will be practicing as a team. Other sports will be having tryouts beginning September 11 and we may have more join our team after that date.

The FCIAC has divided into three divisions for the fall and we will be competing only within our division. We will have one meet each against the following teams: Danbury, McMahon, Norwalk, Staples, and Wilton. It is possible we will add a second meet against one of those teams as we will have a six week competitive dual meet season. The first meet will be the week of September 24. As soon as I see a meet schedule I will let you know what it is.

I sit on the CIAC XC committee and we recommended having races with up to 50 participants, which is the current state guideline for road races. Multiple races can be held at each event. There could be a girls varsity race with 50, boys varsity with 50, girls JV race with 50, boys JV with 50. The 50 does not have to be evenly split by team. Because they are dual meets we will only be putting two cohorts on the line for each race. The FCIAC has been discussing smaller varsity races and larger JV races held on separate days. When things are decided I will be sure to inform you.

The post season, if one is held, will occur October 31 - November 8. The format of the post-season will be determined at a later date.

AD Street sent out information regarding pre-season conditioning at the high school. This program is optional and is run by Pete McLean. I have linked the file he sent out. Here is further information from Dane’s email:

For the time period of August 10-August 26 we will be offering team time slots for each fall sport.  Click the link below for more information and the "Registration and Consent" form (pages 5-6) which athletes must print, complete and turn in at their first session:

Fall athletes planning to participate in these S&C sessions must also complete this brief Google Form:

If you have any questions please feel free to email me and I will do my best to answer.
